What’s My Feedburner ID?

Since Google’s acquisition of Feedburner, they have done away with numeric IDs. The good news is, it’s way easier to figure out your Feedburner ID now.

Your ID can now be found in your feedburner feed URL. For example, if your feed URL was http://feeds2.feedburner.com/MyFeedURL, then MyFeedURL would be your Feedburner ID. Easy enough? 🙂

FeedburnerFeedburner is an absolute dream come true for a blogger. In fact, I would put in in the top 5 tools that every single blogger needs in their arsenal. It tracks the number of feed subscribers you have, it allows you to offer feed updates via email, and it even has professional site statistics now too! (all for free, mind you)

If you don’t have an account there yet, go there and get one … NOW!

OK, now that you have an account, there are a few things you need to know about feedburner.

1. My feedburner address

This is actually pretty simple, but for the sake of the absolute beginner, you feedburner address is chosen by you when you burn your feed. It usually looks something like this: http://feeds.feedburner.com/myfeedaddress (where “myfeedaddress” is the unique feed string you’ve chosen).

2. My feedburner ID


This one is a little more tricky, but still pretty easy to discover. The first thing you want to do is go to the feedburner homepage and click “sign in”.

Next, you’ll want to put in your username and password.

Login

Once you’ve done that, go ahead and click on the feed you want to find the ID for.

Select Feed

Once you’ve clicked the feed you’re interested in, take a look at your address bar. It should have a URL in it like this one:

Notice the string of numbers I outlined in red? THAT is your feedburner ID for that particular feed.

Copy it down and keep it for later. It just may come in handy 🙂

Activate the Email Subscription Option

Feedburner also offers you the ability to let users sign up for your feed to be delivered to them via email. But the service must be active first. Here’s how to activate it.

Once you’ve logged in and chosen the feed you want to offer via email, click the “Publicize” tab. Now, on the left hand side of the screen you should see some options. Look for the “Email Subscriptions” link and click it.

Then, just activate it. Once you’ve done that, you may want to poke around in the options and see if there’s anything you’d like to change or customize. But once the email subscription service is active, you’re set to deliver you feed to anyone who signs up!

So What?

OK, this IS sort of an elementary tutorial, I know. It may not seem very useful now, but you’ll see soon enough that it was necessary. If you already knew how to do all this, just ignore this story 🙂

    For some reason the feedburner plugin doesnt show the Email Subscription link in the sidebar. The sidebar contains the code, but nothing is showing. I activated the email subscription in Feedburner.com

    Let me know what I have done wrong. Thanks

    actually… wouldn’t your feedburner ID also be the name that you sign in with? I have about 25 or so blogs listed under my one main sign in.. and it’s not a number.

    The feedburner ID and your sign in name are very different. The feedburner ID has to do with the ID of the individual feed you’ve set up, not the account you set it up under.

    I have the same problem as Tony Yang.

    My Feedeburner ID is 9pk81ee8bjapqbpkvm206m5jbo and that doesn’t want to work with email subscription.

    It turned out to be easy, just take a look at the code for the subscription link and it is there.

    mailverify?uri=Indie-filminfo

    So my one was – Indie-filminfo

    Hi,

    The feedburner ID is these days indeed (apparently) the last part of what feedburner shows as the

    To get there, go to feedburner.com
    Click on “My feeds”
    Then click on the feed you are working on.
    Then click on “Edit Feed details”
    Then you will see the line that says
    Feed Address: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/ (Your FeedBurner feed)

    You need to part after http://feeds2.feedburner.com/ for your WordPress email feed settings.

    That worked perfectly for me in the Atahualpa theme

    thank you for the info.actually i got problem when i put id like this mp2oeuonmiidq7sisf57jjetl4, it tell me that no such email subscribtion.Even after i activate my email subscrition.Is it i use true id?

    I have the same prob as Razak. I was able to find my feedburner address and ID okay, and I went in and activated my email subscriptions, but I’m STILL getting a “This feed does not have subscriptions by email enabled” error response when I try to test the subscription.

    i try figure out many time but i m still failed.but,now for the mean time,you can ask readers to click the feedburner button instead putting email in email box.when they click feed button ,it will direct reader to email form also.it work with this way.

    I’m just installing your theme on a new domain (mamabrain.com) – I was getting the “This feed does not have subscriptions by email enabled” error response as well and then realized that the code was wrong because feedburner has a new address now that it’s moved to google. If you go into the sidebar php (under edit theme) and look for the http://www.feedburner.com address in the code for the email button and change it to google.feedburner it will work – note: you have to remove the www. – it should look like http://google.feedburner… Once it did this the email button works on my home page.
